International Airport of Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro International Airport is located 50 km from Arusha city Tanzania covering close to 110sq km ,was officially inaugurated in December 1971 and was designed "The Gateway of Africa's Wildlife Heritage"

Situated roughly halfway between town of Moshi on the lower slopes of Mountain Kilimanjaro and the cool city of Arusha.The region are popularly known as East Africa's best tourist destination or commonly known as the northern famous tourism circuit,including Kilimanjaro mountain,Serengeti,Ngorongoro crater,Tarangire,Lake Manyara,Natron,Lake Eyasi and mount Meru.

Managed and operated by Kilimanjaro Airport Development Company (KADCO). Another local specialty in the region is the precious gemstone Tanzanite, found only in Tanzania, Mererani where found the mines,just near the airport.

Airport Facilities Kilimanjaro International Airport has all of the modern facilities that the larger airports have including a restaurant, money exchange center, shopping arcade, duty free shops, clinic, business class lounge, VIP lounge and airport taxi services in the car park area near the departure lounge.

Arrivals Guidelines Passengers arriving are escorted off the aircraft and taken directly to the arrival halls where they go through the immigration formalities of the country. Passengers will then immediately find themselves in the baggage reclaim area.

Arrivals have a separate parking area and passengers can move very quickly into their onward transport. Departures Guidelines Travelers are dropped just outside the Check-In area. Here you are required to go through the security checkpoint in an open hall with well-marked check-In points.

The runaway has Cat II ILS landing system, meaning that landing is possible in even lilting weather conditions.

The runaway is capable of handling up to and including Boeing 747-400 series or Antonov 124 aircraft. Any size of the current commercial aircraft can land and be provided all ground services at KIA Low population densities in the surrounding allow easy approach and take off, without noise restrictions.
