Rungwe mountain

One of the mountains in Tanzania(2,960m) which dominate the area.This great volcano, active over the past million years can be climbed on a full day hike. The climb takes you through tropical forest, upland scrub and rock terrain. Also you might see the recently discovered monkey species, the Highland Mangabey.

Ngozi crater lake

Ngozi is another million years old volcano that can be climbed.Center of this volcano collapsed and has later been infilled by the Ngozi crater lake.Climb to the top through dense bamboo forest and tropical vegetation. When you reach the rim you’ll be rewarded with a spectacular view of the lake lying 200 meters below.

Bridge of God

In the Kiwira valley found a famous local attraction the Bridge of God (Daraja la Mungu). A million of years old rock forms a natural bridge that crosses the river.The bridge is the one of attraction while Just a few kilometers up the valley is the ‘cooking pot’ where the Kiwira river falls into a seething cauldron or sump and the Marasusa waterfalls

Kyejo mountain

is one of the main mountains of Rungwe area. Hike up this 2,152m high active volcano along the lava pathways. From the slopes of Kyejo mountain you have great views on the surrounding tea growing villages.

Lake Masoko

Beautiful small lake is the perfect place to swim, picnic or even camp. It is especially known for its history. The Germans dumped coins and other items in the lake when they were being chased by the British forces during the first world war. Find out more about Rungwe’s past during a nice walk around the lake.

Nyasa lake

Relax on the shores of Tanzania’s third largest lake at Matema beach in the neighboring Kyela district.From the wide sandy beach of Matema you have spectacular view of lake and theLivingstone mountains. Swim, snorkel, canoe ride or visit the local tea farmers and other beautiful places. Scenic drives and hikes will make your stay in rungwe a memorable one.

Through reducing poverty and attaining development Rungwe tea farmers association has started a community based tourism program. The aim of this program is to show you most beautiful parts of Rungwe and to tell you about tea and their community which through that program the contribution found help in building classrooms, water pumps or supporting orphanages in the village.
In return, the farmers are asking you to pay a small development fee. With this fee, they can build classrooms, a water pump or support the orphans in the village.
